This painting was painted from a hill top in Vista California, a local construction worker with some knowledge of local legends told me a story about an ancient warrior who slept in the mountain waiting to be summoned to defend his tribe. The story and the scenery inspired the painting as well as the Antique Tractor Museum at the bottom of the hill I was painting on. I was working on the site as a laborer watching and participating in changing the landscape of such a beautiful place.
I omitted the modern images and changes for the most part and chose to highlight the landscape as I imagined it to be in the early 1900s The painting is oil on canvas and is 24×36 in size. The days I spent painting this as well as enjoying the view were what I would call Gorgeous days. 74 degrees and sunny the kind of day when you just have to slow down and enjoy nature and the beauty that surrounds you.
I hope you enjoy the painting and a little of the inspiration and story behind it!
